Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)
The Treatment
PRP is also known as the vampire facelift and helps to regenerate the patients skin by stimulating the growth of new healthy cells. It has been used for many years now for the treatment of hair loss, enlarged pores, skin laxity, wrinkles, skin rejuvination on hands, face and declotage.
What is the procedure and how is it performed?
A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient into a sterile tube. The tube containing the blood is placed into a centrifuge and spun to separate the plasma and platelets from the other blood components.
After a few minutes, the plasma and concentrated platelets are removed from the same tube and reintroduced into the patient at the site of the injury, scars, skin, obvious lines or wrinkles. Using a small sterile needle, your practitioner will inject the PRP in and around the desire site.
Which facial and body areas can be treated?
Crinkling skin around and under eyes.
Cheeks and whole face
Neck
Jaw line
Chest and décolletage
Back of hands and arms
Stimulate hair growth on scalp
How long does the treatment take?
30-45 minutes
How many treatments and how often is the treatment needed?
Responses to treatment vary, most people will require 1-3 sessions. Each set of treatments is spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
What results can I expect from PRP treatments?
Improvement of skin texture and tone are noticeable within three weeks. Full collagen regeneration takes up to three months. Any skin type can be treated.
How long do the results last?
Results can last up to 18 months. Touch up treatments will maintain results.
Are results immediate?
No. Swelling from fluid is what you will see and feel first. Over the days/weeks platelets will release the growth factors and pre-stem cells which will assist in more collagen growth.
Are there any side effects?
Minimal swelling, bruising and redness for 12-24 hours. Some little bruises at the needle site may be visible for 2-3 days.
Does the procedure hurt?
Local anaesthetic cream will be applied to the skin prior to treatment.
The important bit!
A no obligation free consultation will be carried out prior to the procedure and risks and side effects will be discussed. You will be injected by a qualified healthcare expert who has been specially trained in this treatment. This procedure is not suitable for pregnant and breast-feeding women.
