Cryotherapy is used to treat a range of skin lesions including;. skin tags, benign moles, verrucas, cherry angiomas and seborrheic keratosis.<\/p>\n

Cryotherapy uses a very cold substance such as liquid nitrogen to freeze the superficial layer of the skin (epidermis). The liquid nitrogen is normally applied using a spray gun.<\/p>\n

There are many different types of\u00a0skin lesions, from\u00a0moles, skin tags,\u00a0warts, verrucas\u00a0or other\u00a0skin growths, which can appear on the face and body. Even though most of these are harmless, you may feel bothered by their\u00a0appearance\u00a0or if they catch on clothing and are\u00a0irritating.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The treated area will usually form a scab which takes a week or two to resolve.\u00a0 <\/span>Some lesions may need several treatments. Treatment may alter the texture and colour of the skin. For this reason, cryotherapy should be used with caution in patients with darker skin, particularly on exposed areas such as the face, due to the risk of depigmentation.<\/p>\n

Following the assessment of your skin lesion, I will advise you whether it requires removal or not and will refer you to\u00a0a skin lesion specialist if necessary.<\/p>\n
